Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

I am attaching a West Berkshire Council booklet on “Staying Warm and Well this Winter”.

The Educafe that was being held in The Globe at the Kennet Centre on Wednesdays will now be having space in Newbury Library (on both floors) from 11.00 am – 2.00 pm on the same day.

Neighbourhood Watch will be having a display of crime prevention and other leaflets next Wednesday 2 February (we will possibly be upstairs in the library) and myself and colleagues will be able to answer any queries and advise on how to set up a scheme.   It is also a good opportunity for Coordinators and Residents to come along and meet us and it would be great to put a face to a name.   I will have NHW stickers and leaflets that you can pick up for members of your scheme but it would be helpful if you can please let me know before Wednesday how many you would like me to bring along.

I will also be participating in the online Volunteer Recruitment Event on Saturday 5 February from 10.00 am – 12.30 pm.

If you receive the Alerts as a resident and there is no Neighbourhood Watch scheme in your road or part of the road, it would be great if you could cover a few properties and start up a scheme.   The Alerts can be circulated via email, a WhatsApp or Facebook Group.  This can also be used to notify if say a pet has gone missing, local events and can be a way of keeping in touch with one another.

Neighbourhood Watch is about being alert for any suspicious activity, it is helping the Police to reduce local crime, promoting neighbourliness and looking out for each other to make the community a safer place to live.  You would receive free Neighbourhood Watch signs and stickers together with literature and details of discounts available to all neighbours – currently Jewsons, A-Plan (contact Thatcham branch), Co-op, Yale, SelectaDNA and Newbury Locks.

We are looking for more people in West Berkshire to volunteer to be Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators.   If you would like to find out more about setting up a scheme, please contact myself:

Angela Money BEM on Newbury (01635) 40866, 07774962641 or email:  ajmy5m7@inbox.com

Best wishes

Angela
