VICTIMS FIRST CONNECT

Alert message sent 07/01/2022 12:42:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

Dear Coordinator,

                                       Victims First Connect
Would you like to help improve access to support for victims of crime?

As part of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner’s role in providing support to victims of crime, we are delivering a programme called Victims First Connect.

Victims First Connect aims to improve routes into services for victims, by working with organisations and professionals within communities to raise awareness and signpost victims to support.

A range of organisations including community centres, GP surgeries, libraries and Citizens Advice Bureaus have already joined the programme, and we would be interested in working with Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators across the Thames Valley to raise awareness of the support available to victims of crime.

The programme is structured into two tiers, providing different levels of information and support:
Tier 1 can be as simple as displaying a poster or distributing literature about the support provided through Victims First.
Tier 2 will have the added benefit of receiving training about the services available.  This will enable you to talk through options with a victim and instigate a referral to Victims First for support.   You will also receive awareness training on certain crime types, such as domestic abuse and hate crime, as well as be able to process third party reports of hate crime.

For further information about the programme, including online training dates for Tier 2 involvement, please visit our website: victims-first.org.uk/what-we-do/victims-first-connect/

If you have any questions, please email: victimsfirstcomms@thamesvalley.police.uk

Thank you,

Sarah Stokes
Communications and Engagement Officer
Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner
