Appeal for witnesses following assault

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an incident in which two men were assaulted in Reading.

At 2pm on Thursday (22/4) three men were seen to be involved in an altercation near vehicles in Beresford Road. Two ran away along Beresford Road in the opposite direction to Oxford Road.

The man left at the scene was then involved in another altercation with a man who was not involved in the previous incident. This altercation then moved in to Oxford Road near Western Elms Avenue pharmacy.

The offenders are described as white men, wearing high visibility clothing.

The victims have not come forward but it is believed they were assaulted and sustained facial injuries.

Investigating officer PC Eric Harcup, of the Incident and Crime Response team based at Reading police station, said: “I am looking for witnesses who saw the altercations, and those involved, to come forward to provide any information they may have. I’d also like to speak to anyone who was driving in the area around the time of the offence who may have captured the incident on their dash-cam footage.”

A 29-year-old man from Reading was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was released under investigation.
