Police investigation into New Year’s Eve assault leads to four men being sentenced

Hello Resident,

Following our investigation, four men have been sentenced following an assault in Oxford during the New Year’s Eve celebrations.

A group attacked two men on Cowley Road in the early hours of 1 January, leaving one with significant injuries.

The quartet were sentenced to a total of nearly nine years in prison, some suspended, at Oxford Crown Court last month, after being convicted of a mix of wounding with and without intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, and affray.

We put in a significant amount of work to identify and apprehend four of the violent offenders involved so we are proud they have been brought to justice.

We will continue to relentlessly pursue those involved in serious violence and work tirelessly with our partners to protect our communities.
