Alert message sent 21/06/2021 17:10:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information after reports of a firearm being discharged in High Wycombe.
At 6.45pm on Saturday (19/6) officers were alerted to reports of a man running across Holmers Farm Way carrying a shotgun.
It was then reported that a sound, which appeared to be the discharge of a firearm, was heard in the area.
Officers responded quickly and following a search of the area, a shotgun was recovered and taken to High Wycombe police station.
No arrests have been made, but there have been no reports of anybody being injured as a result of the incident.
Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Gill Fox, based at High Wycombe police station, said: “Following the report received on Saturday evening, officers from the Joint Operations Unit responded, alongside response officers, and an area search commenced.
“During this search, we located and recovered a firearm, which has now been made safe and is off the streets.
“Although no arrests have been made in connection with this incident, our enquiries are ongoing, and there is a continued increased police presence in the area at this time.
“We believe from our early enquiries that this is an isolated incident and believe it to be linked to groups known to each other, and so we do not believe there is any wider threat to the local community.
“Although I understand the significant concern that incidents such as this will cause in the local community, I would like to reassure the public that we are progressing our investigation, making house to house enquiries, reviewing CCTV and seeking to identify the offender.
“With this in mind, I would appeal to anybody who has any information that can help this investigation to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police, either by making a report online or by calling 101, quoting reference number 43210269972.
“You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111 to provide any information that may assist this investigation.
“I would like to re-iterate, we have no reports of anybody being injured as a result of this incident, and are working around the clock to ascertain the circumstances and to identify the offender.
“I would also appeal to anybody in the local area who has CCTV or who was driving in the vicinity and has dash-cam footage to please check this and get in touch if it has captured anything that can assist this investigation.”
