Alert message sent 07/04/2021 09:40:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

-Appeal for witnesses-

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following a burglary in Easthampstead.

Between 1.00pm and 11.30pm on Tuesday 6 April 2021 unknown offenders broke into a house in Beckford Avenue. Having gained access to the rear of the property they used a bladed tool to try and force a door before then forcing a window open. Once inside an untidy search was made of bedrooms and a quantity of jewellery was stolen.

Investigating officer DC5584 Naomi Padgett said “ We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or may have information or domestic CCTV , dashcam or video doorbell recordings  of suspects or suspicious vehicles to call our 24-hour enquiry centre on 101, quoting reference 43210144806.

If you don’t want to speak directly to police you can contact “Crimestoppers” anonymously and free of charge on 0800 555 111. It is an independent charity, no personal details will be asked for, calls are not recorded or traced and you would not have to go to court.

To reduce the risk of criminals targeting your home at this time of year make sure your home always looked occupied, use simple timer sockets to turn a radio or the TV during the day, or  lamps on and off when you are out in the evenings. Close and secure gates that lead to rear or enclosed gardens. Further crime prevention advice can be found on the Thames Valley Police website at;
www.thamesvalley.police.uk/advice/protecting-your-home-and-belongings/

Neighbours looking out for each other, and been prepared to report suspicious activity also helps deter offenders and reduce crime. If you want to find out if there is already a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in your area, or you’d like to find out more, check out their site www.ourwatch.org.uk

Please feel free to share this information and advice with neighbours, friends and family, and on social media.
