⚠️ Rogue Trader Warning

While out on patrol officers from the North East Oxford Neighbourhood Police Team have noticed people knocking on doors and offering building work, roof repairs, driveway work, gutter cleaning, or other home repairs that may not actually be needed.

They may tell you there is a problem with your property and try to convince you it needs fixing straight away. They often put pressure on people to agree quickly or pay money upfront. Sometimes the work is poor quality, overpriced, or not completed at all.

How to stay safe: • Be careful of anyone offering work at your door.
• Don't agree to work straight away.
• Get a few quotes from trusted companies.
• Ask for ID and check reviews or references.
• Don't feel pressured into making a quick decision.
• Avoid paying large amounts of money upfront.

If you feel pressured, worried, or think you have been targeted by a rogue trader, report it to police on 101 or call 999 in an emergency.

Please share this message with elderly neighbours, relatives, and anyone who may be vulnerable to this type of scam.

Regards,

North East NHPT
