🚗 Vehicle Crime Prevention – Keeping Your Car SafeWe are reminding residents to take a few simple steps to help keep your vehicle secure. 🔐 Lock it, every time Always lock your vehicle and ensure all windows and sunroofs are fully closed – even if you’re only leaving it for a short time. 🔑 Keep keys safe Never leave keys in the ignition or inside the vehicle. Keep keyless entry fobs away from doors and windows, and consider using a signal-blocking (Faraday) pouch. 👀 Remove valuables Do not leave items on display such as bags, phones, tools or loose change. Take them with you or lock them out of sight in the boot before you arrive at your destination. 💡 Park smart Whenever possible, park in well-lit, busy areas or secure locations. At home, use garages or driveways if available. 🔧 Add extra security Consider using steering wheel locks, alarms, or tracking devices for added protection—especially for higher-risk vehicles. 📢 Report suspicious activity If you see someone acting suspiciously around vehicles, please report it. Call 101 or 999 in an emergency.
By taking these simple precautions, you can help reduce the risk of becoming a victim of vehicle crime. 👮♂️ Your local policing team is here to help—please get in touch if you have any concerns. |
