📣 Wantage & Grove NHPT 📣
On 26/02, an incident occurred locally in the Wantage & Grove area involving cold callers targeting an elderly resident, offering gardening and tree surgery work.
The resident paid £2,500 by cheque.
The trader later returned, claimed the work should have cost £2,050, and ripped up the original cheque in front of the resident.
Unknown to the resident, the first cheque had already been banked using a mobile banking app.
A second cheque was then issued and also banked, resulting in £4,550 taken in total.
The work was later found to be of very poor standard.
