Police have received reports of a male in a balaclava riding a high-powered electric bike being used in and around Churchill. These bikes are often capable of speeds far exceeding legal limits and are being ridden on roads, pavements, and public spaces.
It's suspected that this person lives in Churchill and police would like to speak to this individual and educate them that not only are they putting themselves at risk, they are putting the rest of the community and other road users at risk also.
Are these bikes legal? Many of the bikes being seen are NOT road legal. In the UK, electrically assisted pedal cycles (EAPCs) must comply with strict regulations under the Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles Regulations 1983 and the Road Traffic Act 1988.
