Spring into action - secure your home

As the clocks go forward and you’re able to enjoy lengthening days it is important that you remain mindful of your home security.

With the weather improving, more people leave windows open and doors unlocked whilst they are out in their gardens, putting them at a higher risk of being burgled.

Although tempting to have windows open on warmer days, please make sure your home is securely locked before leaving it.

Expensive garden equipment should always be locked away in a safe and secure location when not in use, the same goes for bikes which prove to be a tempting target f left unattended and unsecured.

There are a number of simple steps that cost nothing you can take to minimise the risk to your home:

Lock your doors while working in the garden.

Close your windows that in areas that are accessible to a thief, such as from a flat roof or from standing on garden furniture.

Close ground floor windows and doors whenever leaving your home,

Keep an eye on neighbours’ homes. If you have a trusted neighbour consider asking them to open and close curtains, pick up parcels, post etc.. when you go away on holiday, and offer to do the same for them.
