Today, half of the Wantage and Grove Neighbourhood Policing Team took part in a live Humanitarian Assistance Centre (HAC) scenario, hosted by Oxfordshire County Council and supported by several of our key partners. 👥 A HAC is a vital part of emergency response planning. It’s a safe, coordinated space where people affected by major incidents—such as natural disasters, large-scale accidents, or public health emergencies—can access support, information, and services all in one place. 🎠To make the training as realistic and impactful as possible, actors were involved to simulate the kinds of distress and complexity we might face in a real-life emergency. Their performances helped bring the scenario to life and challenged us to respond with empathy, clarity, and professionalism. 💡 Why do we train for this? Because when the unexpected happens, communities rely on us to be ready. Practicing these scenarios helps us strengthen partnerships, streamline communication, and ensure we can deliver compassionate, effective support when it matters most.
👏 Huge thanks to everyone who took part today. Preparedness saves lives—and today was a powerful step forward.
