Police responded to reports of a fight at Michaelmas fair yesterday by Northcroft Leisure Centre.
A dispersal authority have been authorised for this location and will remain in place until the 19th October. The purpose of a Section 34 Dispersal order is to stop anti-social behaviour and crime such as harassment, intimidation or disorder. It gives police (including Police Community Support Officers) the power to direct people to leave an area. Refusing to comply with a dispersal order can lead to arrest, fines, or even a prison sentence.
The power is granted under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
Extra officers will be deployed to the area to maintain public safety and enforcement the dispersal order.
