Could you help reduce animal suffering on our roads? Learn more and apply today.
Dear Resident
Thames Valley Police is expanding its volunteer Humane Animal Dispatch (HAD) team to support the safe and compassionate handling of injured deer following road collisions. The work of this team not only helps reduce animal suffering, but also eases pressure on police resources across the Thames Valley, particularly armed response units. Volunteers are trained in safe shooting techniques, animal handling, and relevant legislation, and operate under strict protocols to ensure public safety and transparency.
We understand that the idea of humane dispatch can be difficult for some, and we approach this work with the utmost respect and care. The HAD team exists to provide a swift, professional response in distressing situations, where leaving an animal to suffer is not an option. Volunteers are thoroughly trained and assessed to ensure they have the right skills and mind-set for this sensitive role.
If you or someone you know might be interested in joining our team, you can find more information and details on how to apply at the link below.
