Good News - Shoplifter arrest and E Scooter seizure

A very proactive shift last Saturday (13th September), two males who were wanted for several offences were found by the local Didcot and Wallingford Neighbourhood Team throughout the shift and taken to custody. 

One of the males in particular who was wanted for a number of offences including frequent shoplifting in Didcot, burglary and driving while disqualified, over the last few months kept evading officers on foot by using an e-scooter to take shortcuts and using side paths putting others in danger. On Saturday night PCSOs were notified that a shoplifting had taken place by the male and were able to locate him riding his e-scooter away from the scene. PCSOs followed the male and saw him enter his address. Response officers and a police dog unit came to assist and gained access to the property to arrest the male. PCSOs seized the e-scooter under Section 165. After a weekend in custody, police remanded the male but the courts released him on bail despite the many offences and best efforts by all the officers that were involved in finding and arresting the male. Some great teamwork by the police teams involved, just a shame we couldn't get a result in court.
