Wokingham North NHPT - update

Dear Resident,

It’s been a warm few weeks – over the course of which the Wokingham North NHPT have had a busy round of engagements and activities in support of our communities of Earley, Winnersh, Woodley and Twyford – as well as supporting the drive for ‘Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week’ and the ‘Safer Streets Initiative’.  Thank you to each and every one that came and chatted with us along the way, or attended our events.  If you missed us, we really appreciate hearing from you about any concerns or information that you wish to share about your areas – use the links posted below to let us know.

As well as our regular duties, officers;

👮🏼‍♂️ PCSO’s Hobart and Leightley, with PC Lacey and the ASB Team of Wokingham Borough Council and Housing officers held a pop-up booth in Woodley to provide advice and information on all things antisocial – how to identify, how to make steps to resolve and who to report it too.

✈️ Wokingham North and Wokingham South played a number of roles in the support for the arrival of President Macron, hosted in Windsor.  This included logistical support, street route lining and street barrier control.  A great day and a pleasure to play our part in this rare and grand occasion.

🚔 PCSO’s Sparks and Emmett, crewed with PC Stansbury, visited Bearwood Primary School and presented to the children the various duties of Police and PCSO’s, as well as how to keep people and the community safe.  We held a ‘Show and Tell’ of all the kit we carry and had a tour and play of the police car.  Similarly, PCSO Maguire with PC Bogdanova visited the Dinton Activity Centre as part of the children’s ‘Local Superhero Evening’ before heading off to the Twyford Parish Councillors meeting to listen to your concerns directly.

💂‍♂️ PCSO’s Elson, Maguire, Sparks, Leightley and Hobart attended Windsor Guard, for Changing of the Guard duties.

🗣️ Sgt Botham and PCSO Ispas attended a meeting with Wokingham Borough authorities concerning the welfare of a vulnerable individual in the area.  Through regular partnership working we ensure that the correct due care and attention is given to those that need our help.

❗ PCSO Ispas with PC Lacey attended a property to issue a s.59 Warning to an individual having been witnessed riding antisocially on their moped.  If this individual or the moped is seen behaving in this manner again the vehicle will be seized, whether ridden by them or someone else.  Warn once, seize second!

🚑  PC’s Bogdanova and Young attended the Hurst Show & Country Fayre – initially for the Community engagement… little did they know that whilst there they would be dealing with an affray, and a Road Traffic Collision on the way home.  Thankfully, all injuries were minor and were able to be dealt with at the scene.

🍹 PCSO Maguire visited a number of licensed establishments and restaurants around Twyford and neighbouring areas as part of a refresh on “Ask Angela” – PCSO Maguire was able to offer on the spot crash courses as part of the Safer Streets Initiative.  Encouragingly, most establishments were familiar with “Ask Angela”.

🚲 PC Bull joined the Wokingham North team with flair and with grace – in his first week, accompanying fellow newcomer to the Neighbourhood Team PC Stansbury (just as graceful) with a successful operation on the stopping and seizure of e-bikes and e-scooters.

🛏️ Whilst on patrol, PC Bull came across a group of people pushing a bed down the pathway with the bed being occupied!  It’s our business to be nosey and after a thorough debrief, this was in fact a charity event raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Research – the task being to push the bed from Twyford to Bracknell – we wish them the very best in their endeavour and for such a worthy cause.  Well done to those ladies and gents! ❗ PCSO Sparks ensured the safe recovery of a motor vehicle that was flagged as stolen…

…and plenty more call outs in between.
