Major incident in Newbury due to large field fire

A Major Incident has been declared in Newbury due to a large fire near to Newbury College and the A339.

Our colleagues at Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service are tackling the blaze.

We would urge people in the area to keep doors and windows closed and the public to avoid the area.

The fire is in the area as shown on the attached map.

Monks Lane is closed at present at the junction with the A339 and the A343.
