Good Afternoon Resident
We have had two recent reports of a high powered laser being shone at people and moving vehicles within Didcot.
One incident took place on the Mound in Ladygrove on 1st March and the other at Boundary Park on the 4th March.
Although owning a laser pen is not illegal in the UK, there are some situations where having a laser could be committing an offence such as if; a person has used it or intended to use it to shine into people’s eyes or if someone has pointed a laser at a car or at an aircraft in flight. These are serious offences and can carry a punishment of up to 5 years in prison and unlimited fines for the worst offenders.
The laser in question was seen on both occasions by officers although we were unable to locate the offender.
Please be extremely mindful if you own or know someone who owns one of these devices and make them aware of the dangers they pose.
If you see one of these lasers being used in the manner described above then do not hesitate to contact us | ||||
