Burglary's, Bradwell Common.

Making you aware, police have received two burglary reports in the area of Bradwell Common, Milton Keynes. May i take this opportunity to give some crime prevention advice.

 

1. Secure Doors and Windows

  • Reinforce Entry Points: Strengthen door frames and hinges to prevent forced entry.

  • Lock Windows: Ensure all windows have secure locks, and consider adding window bars or security film.

  • Alarm Systems: Install a monitored alarm system that alerts you and the authorities in case of a break-in.

  • Surveillance Cameras: Place security cameras around your property, especially at entry points.

  • Smart Home Devices: Use smart locks, doorbell cameras, and motion sensors to enhance security.

  • 3. Improve Exterior Lighting

  • Motion-Activated Lights: Install motion-activated lights around your home to deter intruders.

  • Landscape Lighting: Use outdoor lighting to eliminate dark areas where burglars could hide.

  • 4. Maintain Your Property

  • Trim Shrubs and Trees: Keep landscaping well-maintained to eliminate hiding spots for burglars.

  • Secure Sheds and Garages: Lock up tools and ladders that could be used to gain entry to your home.

  • 5. Create the Illusion of Occupancy

  • Timers for Lights and Electronics: Use timers to turn lights and electronics on and off when you’re not home.

  • Hold Mail and Deliveries: Pause mail and package deliveries when you’re away to avoid signaling an empty house.

  • 6. Get to Know Your Neighbors

  • Neighborhood Watch: Join or start a neighborhood watch program to keep an eye out for suspicious activity.

  • Stay Connected: Share contact information with trusted neighbors and keep each other informed about any concerns.

  • 7. Secure Valuables

  • Safes: Use a safe to store valuable items and important documents.

  • Hide Valuables: Keep valuables out of sight from windows and doors.

  • 8. Be Cautious with Social Media

  • Limit Sharing: Avoid posting about vacations or extended absences on social media until you return.
