Dear Resident,
Every neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated neighbourhood policing team (NHPT) that works together with the local community and partners to: -prevent and reduce crime and disorder, They aim to make communities safer through an approach that is focussed on visibility, engagement, problem solving and community resilience.
This week, Wokingham North NHPT officers;
🐻 PC’s Seymour and D’Amaro crewed with PCSO’s Ispas and Elson, hosting a Show and Tell at the local Lower Earley Cub group. Some fantastic questions were asked by the Cubs, exploring the Police Van and having their fingerprints taken. We may have had to arrest one of the Cub Leaders (of course it was a demonstration!)
📖 PC’s Bogdanova and Young, with PCSO’s Elson and Ispas also attended the Lower Earley Day Nursery earlier in the week to showcase the story of PC Ben – our younger years mascot to illustrate the daily activity of a police officer and the various events and emergencies he comes across.
🚗 PCSO’s Elson and Brown came across a broken down vehicle in the middle lane of a busy road in Lower Earley – we ensured that the driver remained safe and stayed on scene until recovery arrived. Attempts to push were made troublesome thanks to a failed electric handbrake.
⚠️ PCSO’s Ispas and Emmett, and PC’s D’Amaro and Seymour were called to a report of reoccurring ASB in a neighbourhood of Woodley. The participants were advised to correct their course of conduct, ensuring they consider their impacts on the local community – with fair warning of further consequences should this happen again.
💂 PCSO Emmett attended Windsor Guard, for Changing of the Guard duties this week.
🚔 All the NHPT covered various shifts in deterring anti-social driving at Thames Valley Business Park and areas across our neighbourhoods. Meeting up in vehicles to socialise in one thing, but driving in a dangerous manner is not accepted and we will continue to issue warnings and seizures without apology.
♥️ PCSO Brown attended a welfare check in Twyford following reports that an elderly individual may be being financially taken advantage of. Thanks to the reporting party, we have raised this concern further and arranged for the necessary interventions.
🚪 The NHPT continue to monitor a number of properties who have lately come under the subject of a Closure Order across Wokingham and Lower Earley – ensuring compliance with the Order, and deterring any breaches. Closure Orders (be it partial, or full) are a way to prevent further disturbance to a community and is awarded by the Courts.
🕶️ Wokingham North and Wokingham South were given access to a live demonstration of the latest roll-out of Passive Virtual Reality learning packages, coming to a school and events near you soon! This technology, purchased by Wokingham Borough Council and being delivered by WBC and TVP, gives the user the experience of a range of dangerous encounters, and showcases the consequences and impacts of your actions, including knife-crime, spiking, and Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) and many more…
👮♀️ PC Young has been dealing with a series of shoplifting offences in Woodley, and has secured a 20-week custodial sentence for the offender.
🛴 PC Bogdanova issued 2 separate E-Scooter warnings – warn once, seize second!
