Dear Resident,
Today, Windsor Neighbourhood team took action and seized an e-scooter on Clarence Road, Windsor, that was not road legal. Anti-social behaviour and riding e-scooters is a one of our priorities in maintaining safety and order in our community.
Here are some key laws about e-scooters:
Insurance: Privately owned e-scooters cannot be insured for road use, making it illegal to ride them on public roads or spaces.
Licenses: You must have the correct driving license to use a rental e-scooter. For private e-scooters, it’s illegal to ride without insurance2.
Speed Limits: The maximum speed for e-scooters is 15.5 mph.
Riding Areas: E-scooters can only be used on private land with the landowner's permission. Rental e-scooters can be used in approved areas during trials3.
Penalties: Riding an illegal e-scooter can result in fines, penalty points on your license, and the e-scooter being impounded.
The police are committed to upholding the law and protecting our residents. If you're using any type of vehicle, please make sure it complies with legal standards and is used responsibly. | ||||
