"Raising Awareness: Cadets Take to the Streets!"

You may have noticed a large number of high-visibility jackets last night, especially around the Clare Road area. This was our brilliant young police cadets volunteering their time to deliver crime prevention information to residents regarding theft from vehicles. 🚔

Our cadets, aged 13-17, meet every week to take part in learning sessions and volunteer their time to support the community. Last night, they delivered over 300 crime prevention letters with the aim of raising awareness. 🌟

Here are some effective tips  from our Police Cadets on Preventing Vehicle Crime

1. **Always Lock Your Vehicle**: Even if you're just stepping away for a moment, make sure to lock all doors and close all windows.
2. **Keep Valuables Out of Sight**: Remove any valuables from your car or keep them hidden. Items like laptops, phones, and bags can attract thieves.
3. **Park in Well-Lit Areas**: Whenever possible, park in areas that are well-lit and have a lot of foot traffic.
4. **Use Anti-Theft Devices**: Consider using steering wheel locks, alarms, and other visible deterrents to make your car less appealing to thieves.
5. **Double-Check Electronic Locking**: Ensure that your car's electronic locking system is engaged before walking away

By following these tips, you can significantly reduce the risk of vehicle theft. Stay safe!
