Dear Resident,
As Wokingham North NHPT (Neighbourhood Police Team) head off for a couple of days rest after a busy week, our excellent Wokingham South NHPT team come online to respond to your calls and concerns. As well as our regular duties, Wokingham North officers:
♥️ PCSO’s Emmett and Elson attended a call for a welfare check for a vulnerable member of our community. Our visit has allowed us to assess her for additional support and have made contact with the relevant authorities to assist her in her in the best way possible.
🅿️ PC’s Young and Bogdanova, crewed with PCSO Brown were present at The Piggott School, Wargrave, following complaints about the build-up of traffic when parents would park on the road to drop off and collect their children. The impact of stationary vehicles along this stretch of road makes it hazardous with the nearby New Bath Road roundabout and so their presence was to educate about best practise. In some cases, enforcement was required where instructions continued to be ignored.
🛒 PSCO’s Elson and Ispas have continued to engage with the retailers across Earley/Lower Earley as we encourage retailers to report shoplifting. During a visit to the local M&S to do so, an unfortunate shoplifter failed to notice the PCSO’s conducting such a visit and after a brief chase across the precinct and into the nearby petrol station, the items (£140 worth) were retrieved and returned to the store. #roadrunner
🛴 All of Wokingham North NHPT carried out an E-Scooter/E-Bike operation over the weekend, with a number of warnings issued to first time offenders. Warn once, seize second.
🐶 PCSO Elson and PC Edwards made a house visit following a report of a potential dangerous dog breed. Following an inspection by the Dog Officer all checks came back clear and no concerns were had.
🦢 PCSO’s Elson, Emmett and Ispas were called to Sandhurst in relation to the welfare of a swan found waddling down a busy road and a nearby train station. On route, we were hastily trying to remember our lines from ‘Hot Fuzz’ but alas, upon arrival the local Postman had already managed to guide it into the garden of a local resident for safe keeping. Unable to take off due to the short runway available, members of the public reached out and waited for Swan Sanctuary to come and assist. Thank you to those who were there to help! Later that day, we delivered a promised Bike Marking session to the residents of Earley.
🪜 PC D’Amaro and PC Simpson-Holland came to the aid of a member of the public who was being scammed by roofer-rogue traders. With one deciding to jump and run off the roof, the other decided to stick around and answer some questions (we had the ladder). Meanwhile, their vehicle was checked and was found uninsured and untaxed – a recovery vehicle was happy to take care of that! TVP are working with Trading Standards in this case, among others to see that justice is brought to this and many other victims. Our advice is to never accept sales or trades from the door, especially if it’s unexpected. If you wish to check the authenticity of a trading company, please check with your local Trading Standards office.
🛵 PC’s Simpson-Holland and Scullin gave chase to two individuals after a call about them using a Surron bike and using cannabis. As one made off, the other was left behind for questioning and a search. After leaving the scene, they left behind a snazzy looking boom-box (lights and everything!) which now sits proudly at the station for safe keeping. If the chap on the Surron bike wants it back you only need to pop down to the station and ask…
…and plenty more.
