We have seen increased reports of vehicle theft in the Castlefield area, primarily cars and motorcycles.  

While police are working to prevent and reduce these number of offences, please keep in mind some basic crime prevention advice to keep your vehicle secure: 

🚗 Please always ensure your cars are locked, make sure your windows and sunroof are closed securely (we are finding that many have not been) 

🚗 Do not leave valuables in your car, try to take them with you, if this is not possible please make sure the items are hidden and not in plain view 

🚗 If you do not have a garage or driveway, please ensure you choose your parking spot carefully, if possible park in a well lit area on a busier street. 

🚗 Ensure you have CCTV in place for your driveway and make sure it is in working order  

🚗 Make use of extra security measures such as a steering wheel lock 

🚗 Be mindful of how keyless technology can be exploited, offenders can scan the signal of the key fobs to get into the car without even having the physical key fob in hand, this can be prevented by storing the keys in a faraday pouch or metal tin.
