Wokingham North NHPT Weekly update

Here is the latest roundup of highlights from our week from your Wokingham North NHPT.  Remember to access your surveys below for anything else you want to tell us about, if not 101 or 999.

As well as our regular duties, officers:

🚗 Conducted night-time patrols around Thames Valley Business Park, and Mereoak in Shinfield, deterring anti-social driving, as part of a daily patrol plan.

🚲 PC D’Amaro headed up a Bike Marking campaign held at Reading University.  This was on the back of reports of an increase of bike thefts on campus, and supported by PCSO’s Brown, Elson and Leightley.  Dr Bike was also in attendance as part of the University event.

💂 PCSO’s Towse and Leightley attended Windsor Guard, for changing of the guard duties.

👻 Led by PC Lacey, PCSO’s Elson and Brown began making preparations for Halloween across the Wokingham North patch, reaching out to local retailers for their cooperation in what can be a fun time for some, but also a time of concern for others.  In the ‘spirit’ of being respectful of a persons’ wishes, flyers have been distributed for those who do not wish to be disturbed on the night.

🐶 PC Bogdanova, PC Young and PC Scullin conducted an operation for drugs and drink spiking held at Reading University.  Passive Drug Dogs were in attendance to support in any stop searches.  23 searches were conducted over the course of the evening.  The aim of the operation was to raise awareness of the dangers of spiking and offer prevention advice to ensure everyone enjoys their night.

🚙 PC Young issued a Section 59 warning for Anti-social driving – if caught a second time, the vehicle will be seized.  Similarly, the same warning was issued for the use of an E-Scooter.

👀 Following reports of an ASB incident in the area, PCSO Ispas and PC D’Amaro conducted investigations in identifying the persons involved. Positive identifications have now been made, and visits to their home addresses are happening.

🛒 PC Lacey has been leading the way with Safer Business Action Week, running from 14th – 24th October.  The week provides national policing with the opportunity to engage with businesses, better understand their issues and work in collaboration to develop long term solutions.
