Courier fraud

We have seen an increase in courier frauds across the area.

Courier fraud occurs when a criminal contacts you by phone and convinces you that you are required to hand over money or your credit/debit card to someone that will collect from your home address.

You are contacted by phone from someone claiming to be a police officer or someone from your bank. The caller might be able to confirm some easily obtainable information about you such as your full name and address.

Scammers will try to rush ans panic you into responding to their requests. It's OK to reject, refuse or ignore these requests.

Always remember,

The police and the bank will never call you to ask you to verify your personal details or PIN. They will never arrange to come to your home address to collect money or cards.

The  police will never contact you out of the blue to participate in an investigation in which you need to withdraw money from your bank or purchase high value goods.

Take 5 and stop and think.
