Reading welcomes new LPA Commander

Dear Resident

Superintendent Colin Hudson has been appointed as the new Commander for Reading Local Policing Area (LPA).

This month, Superintendent Hudson started in his new role, taking over from Superintendent Steve Raffield.

Supt Hudson joined Thames Valley Police following a career in technology, research and development. He has worked as a Response Officer in Berkshire, before becoming LPA Commander for  Windsor and Maidenhead, leading the area during the Royal Wedding in 2018. Following this, he headed up the Roads Policing Department, serving both Thames Valley and Hampshire police force areas for the past three-and-a-half years.

Upon his appointment, Supt Colin Hudson said: “I am really pleased to be appointed as Commander for Reading and look forward to serving the diverse range of communities of the area. I have worked in the area as a Response Officer, and before my move into policing.

“I am keen to continue and build on the work across the town, working closely with local partners, communities and businesses to keep Reading the safe and vibrant place to live and work that I know it is.”
