Scam alert coming from an anonymous number, 24/06  from a male who claimed to be a

Detective chief inspector,surname of  Watt and from Hampshire Police.  He said he had a young man in custody , arrested for having a cloned credit card in her name and that the young man claimed she was his Aunt.  The resident was immediately suspicious and asked for a description  of the young man –but nothing matched up. 

 The DCI said in order to alleviate her suspicions she should hang up and dial 999 – state it was not an emergency and to ask them to verify his details etc.  At this point the resident has hung up.  

Any receipt of these calls should be logged with police either on the 101 number or online at the TVP website.
