Slough West Neighbourhood Update

Slough West Update

 The Neighbourhood Team

The Neighbourhood Team for Slough dedicates officers to geographical areas to address problems identified by the community and through reporting. A large part of our role is engaging with communities; over the last few months we have completed a number of talks at schools, along with “Have Your Say” meetings and the Mini Police scheme.

We work closely with partner agencies including Slough Borough Council, Housing and Social Care and we hold monthly meetings where we come together as partner agencies to discuss new and ongoing concerns and how we can tackle those identified issues together.

We also work closely with the Problem Solving Team here at Slough Police Station who cover the whole of Slough, but are currently concentrating on the issues surrounding knife enabled crime.

We would like to introduce 2 new members to the Slough West Neighbourhood team. Since the last newsletter was published we have welcomed a new PCSO and a new PC to the team. PCSO Kenya Creed and PC Rose Arbery joined the Cippenham team last month and have already been very proactive in the area. In the next few months we will also see a number of new PC’s and PCSO’s joining the team which is a big boost for the Neighbourhood and will help with our visibility in the area.

The West Team currently consists of:

A/Sgt Abbi Ellis

PC Tara Walker

PC Rose Arbery

PCSO Shafiq Iqbal

PCSO Deborah Bahan

PCSO Kenya Creed

We have a number of PC and PCSO vacancies currently which we are recruiting into. Join our team and help protect our communities. www.tvpcareers.co.uk

School Patrols

The PCSO’s will rotate around the schools on the area to provide hi-visibility presence at the beginning and end of the school days. They do various talks and presentations to pupils. They are there to be approached by you, so you can share any issues or problems within the area you live.

Schools Talks

Over the last few months, the PCSO’s have been interacting with school children. They have attended Claycots and Cherry Tree nursery to explain about the police and what we do. They have also attended other schools such as James Elliman and St Anthony’s where they have been talking about Anti-social behaviour (ASB) and Cyberbullying. In the next month we will be at secondary schools to attend Career events to engage and inspire students about their futures within the Police.

E-Scooters

Over the last few months, our PC’s and PCSO’s have been out in a number of areas around Slough speaking to people about their use of E-Scooters. Over the past month our neighbourhood team have stopped and spoken to various people and have even issued warning letters to people riding e-scooters.  At this moment in time it is illegal to ride e-scooters in a public place *

It is important that we spread the word and keep speaking to our communities to make them aware of this to stop any asb that has been occurring.  *Please read the attached E-scooter leaflet for more information.

Baylis & Stoke

Officers have been attending Baylis Park due to the recent reports of drug dealing in the area. Officers are working towards identifying who they are so that more stop checks and disruption can be made to prevent this from occurring in the area. We continue to monitor the theft from motor vehicle/suspicious activity that has been occurring over the last few months. We have noticed that this has decreased recently but continue to patrol the area to avoid this from escalating again. If you witness any suspicious activity or have any CCTV/RING doorbell footage then please contact us on 101 or via the TVP website www.thamesvalley.police.uk to report any suspicious activity.

Cippenham

Officers have been patrolling the Cippenham area recently, specifically Stoneymead shops. We have also had a number of reports of vehicles driving up and down making lots of noise. Officers have managed to speak to drivers and warn them about their manner of driving. If there are any issues within your area that you wish to report, officers will be advertising their Have Your Say meetings that you can attend or it can be reported via 101  or our website www.thamesvalley.police.uk

Farnham

The team continue to patrol the area to reduce asb. Recently the neighbourhood team attended an incident on the Farnham road whereby a male entered a shop, stole items, and assaulted a shop worker. This male was arrested and charged for Robbery and is currently awaiting his sentence in regards to this. The neighbourhood team worked hard for this and the male is now banned from the Farnham road and a number of other shops as a result.

Britwell & Haymill

As the spring/summer months are fast approaching. The neighbourhood team will be patrolling the Britwell area and all the open spaces due to the number of reports of Quad bikes and scrambler bikes that will be in the area. Recently we completed an operation whereby officers were on scrambler bikes patrolling the area for asb. This allowed officers to patrol parks and open spaces on bikes and interact with those on bikes within the park areas. Over the last few weeks, we have been working to gain information on those riding the bikes to issue out warning letters about their driving. Officers continue to have a visible presence and recently attended the local food bank to see the good work that they do. They were there to listen and give advice to people that attended who may have had an issue they wanted to address.

Patrol Plan

The team are focusing on issues in the following areas around the West of Slough with hi-visibility patrols to deter crime & reassure the community. The team work with partner agencies and the community to try and find locally identified solutions to reduce crime & asb.

Our current priorities are:

·       Kennedy Park/Twist way- Quad bike/Scrambler bikes, careless driving and asb

·       Marunden Green- Suspicious activity and asb

·       Horlicks Factory- Homeless sleeping in the area/ drugs and asb

·       Stoneymead Shops- Patrols due to reports of asb and drug taking.

If you are a victim or witness to an offence, report it. Without notification we cannot assist. Most of what you report will be information or intelligence that on its own may not be enough, but could be that final piece of information joining the dots and piecing the puzzle together. Don’t assume someone else has told us.

You should continue to contact us by phone on 101 (non-emergency number) or our website www.thamesvalley.police.uk to report crimes or in an emergency where something is happening there and then or there is a risk to safety or property please call 999.

Regards,

A/Sgt Abbi Ellis
