PC 3202 SYMM has been out on foot patrol today in the area of and around Fair Acres Retail Park, Abingdon. 

Leaflets have been hand delivered to shop staff and managers in relation to an upcoming Police Operation starting in early MAY 2024. This operation will be named Sceptre and will be actively targeting knife crime and those who carry knives. More leaflets will be delivered throughout Abingdon Town Centre in the coming days. 

Advice has been given to shops/stores in relation to the amount of knives, craft knives and bladed articles being stored on shop floors and in accessible and easy to reach places. Businesses have been encouraged to continue the good practice by asking for suitable identification when these types of items are browsed or purchased. 

This will contribute to one of our Force Priorities that is engaging with our retailers within our communities.
